The Municipality of Pura has undergone the final stages of the assessment and validation for the most coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the highest accolade given to a Local Government Unit. It embodies excellence in public service and local governance under Republic Act 11292 or the SGLG Act of 2019.
Headed by Mayor Freddie D. Domingo and Vice Mayor John Paul M. Balmores, the Municipality of Pura warmly welcomed the SGLG validators from the Bureau of Local Government Supervision Central Office led by OIC-ADC/LGOO VI Charles Anthony Vega and LGOO II Kim Nicole Samson, along with Engr. Robert Diola on August 31, 2022, at the SB Conference Room.
After passing the Regional SGLG Assessment, the Municipality of Pura became a qualifier and hence, underwent a national validation. The modalities of the validation include review and evaluation of documents, onsite visitation, and interviews with the LGU functionaries and Barangay Chairpersons.
In his message, Mayor Domingo emphasized the importance of putting a premium on integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service. “Aiming for the Seal is a constant drive for our LGU to have a progressive effort and sustain the gains of our notable performance being the prime movers in government service,” he added.
To be able to get the seal, LGUs need to pass all ten governance areas, namely: Financial Administration & Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection & Sensitivity; Safety, Peace and Order; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business Friendliness & Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and the Arts; and Youth Development.
Moreover, Mr. Bryan N. Rivera, MLGOO, and Engr. Abegel A. Pagatpatan, SGLG Focal Person, extended their gratitude to everyone for their hard work and efforts as the LGU of Pura is vying for its fifth SGLG. On the other hand, DILG Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad attended the exit conference, wherein she congratulated the LGU for its holistic effort.
The Sangguniang Bayan members, LGU Department Heads, PNP, DepEd, and CSOs representatives were in full force during the said table validation.
The SGLG is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs delivering public service through compliance with pertinent national laws and guidelines.
