The LGU of Pura, through the leadership of Mayor Freddie D. Domingo, organized the Children’s Congress and State of the Children’s Address on November 23, 2023, at the COC Multi-Purpose Arena, marked as the culmination of the month-long celebration of National Children’s Month.
The activity started with the State of the Children’s Address, wherein Ms. Aeyesha Pagatpatan and Ms. Ezra Jane Lanoria, child representatives, gave reports to all participants on the accomplishments made by the LGU of Pura for this year, which highlighted its contribution to the responsibility of the survival, protection, development, and participation of children.
In addition, students actively listened to the seminar regarding the Mental Health and Leadership Seminar. Dr. Emilina P. Co served as the Resource Speaker. She tackled the importance of caring for our health and shared the importance of igniting leadership skills at a young age. More so, the LGU organized a Palarong Pambata, wherein all student representatives enthusiastically participated in all games.
Winners are as follows:
Overall Champion – Team Green, composed of Linao Elementary School, Doña Felisa Y. Sawit Elementary School, Matindeg Elementary School, and Pura Central High School
1st Place – Team Blue, composed of Estipona Elementary School, Maungib Elementary School, Poroc Elementary School, and Buenavista High School
2nd Place – Team Violet, composed of Don Teodorico Pascual Elementary School, Naya Primary School, Don Quirino Elementary School, and Pura Academy School
3rd Place – Team Red, composed of Pura Central Elementary School, Nilasin 1st Elementary School, Maasin Elementary School, and Maungib High School
4th Place – Team Yellow, composed of Pura Community School, Singat Primary School, Buenavista Elementary School, and Estipona National High School
This month’s commemoration, which has the theme “Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all,” highlights the importance of healthcare, nutrition, and shelter in a child’s development. Indeed, almost two hundred fifty (250) student-leaders and their respective teachers and advisers enjoyed and showed camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the activity.
