
DILG confers SGLG to the LGU

For the second time, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has conferred to the LGU its most prestigious award for local government units which echo DILG’s mantra: Matino, Mahusay at Maaasahan, the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The 2017 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Awarding Ceremony was held on November 24 at the Tent City Manila Hotel in Ermita, manila. This significant award was received by Local Chief Executive together with the MPDC and the MLGOO.
Aside from the much-coveted Seal, SGLG awardees will receive an incentive fund called Performance Challenge Fund which they can use for the implementation of local development projects, each municipal awardee will be receiving a cash grant of Two-Million Pesos (P 2, 000,000.00).
During the first Monday flag raising ceremony, a short program in lieu of the SGLG was held. Mayor Zarate, in her speech said that “Passing the test of good governance means having complied with all the requirements of three core areas – financial administration, disaster preparedness and social protection, and any one of the essential criteria – business-friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, environmental management and tourism, culture and the arts, that is why I am thankful to all of you who have taken part in this achievement, this is not mine but this is for the Local Government Unit.”
The SGLG aims to promote good local governance and encourage local chief executives to strive for the improvement of services extended to their constituents.
