LGU OF PURA CONDUCTS ORIENTATION ON THE GUIDELINES IN THE IMPOSITION OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AS A PENALTY IN LIEU OF IMPRISONMENT

The LGU of Pura, headed by Mayor Freddie D. Domingo, conducted an orientation regarding the guidelines for the imposition of community service as a penalty in lieu of imprisonment on February 15, 2023, at the Pura Event Center.

Hon. Regina Balmores-Laxa, a presiding judge at Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) 5th Branch, served as the Resource Speaker. She briefly discussed the imposition of community service as a penalty for minor criminal offenses that promotes restorative justice and jail decongestion.

Moreover, Municipal Vice Mayor Atty. John Paul M. Balmores extends its appreciation to Judge Balmores-Laxa for the opportunity she was given to the LGU.

Likewise, Hon. Timoteo D. Balmores, Ms. Precious Ava Guevarra – MLGOO, Barangay Officials, and PNP were present during the orientation.

The guidelines were issued in line with Republic Act No. 13362, known as the Community Service Act, which was signed into law by President Duterte on August 8, 2019.
