PURA LGU ORGANIZES A BASIC SIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING

PURA LGU ORGANIZES A BASIC SIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING
The LGU of Pura, headed by Mayor Freddie D. Domingo, conducted a basic sign language training on November 10-11, 2022, at the Pura Event Center. This introductory training aims further to capacitate participants, especially LGU employees, on sign language and address the communication gap with deaf and hard-of-hearing clients.
The LGU is honored to have Hon. Remiebel U. Mondia – a Presiding Judge at Metropolitan Trial Court Pasay City; Ms. Shirley Q. Earnhart – Executive Director at the Philippine Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf; and Ms. Edna V. Paraiso – a Registered Sign Language Interpreter in the Philippine Registry and Retired SPED teacher, who served as Resource Speakers.
In his message, Mayor Domingo believed that inclusiveness has been of utmost importance to the locality, so he fully supported this activity. “I fully support this activity, like any other program that will capacitate our people with skills to reach out to vulnerable sectors,” he added.
This two-day activity was organized by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, led by Ms. Analiza A. Campo, RSW.
