TECHNICAL SESSION AND VALIDATION VISIT OF PCW TO LGU OF PURA’S GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT

As one of the twenty (23) shortlisted applicants for a potential Gender and Development- Local Learning Hub (GAD-LLH), a two (2) day validation session and site visit were conducted in the LGU of Pura by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on May 4-5, 2023, at Pura Municipal Building.
The validation of the gender-responsive programs of the municipality comprised of first, the overview of the GAD Local Learning Hub; second, the presentation of notable GAD efforts (a) People Empowerment through Livelihood Assistance to all sectors and (b) Educational Assistance Program; third, results validation of GeRL Assessment Tool and Validation of MOVs; lastly, facility/site visit and interviews with the implementers and beneficiaries.
The PCW Validation Team comprised GAD specialists, namely: Ms. Elizabeth B. Omas-as, Mr. Neil Ryann P. Rodil, Ms. Shella Mae L. Abayon, and Ms. Annrelyn M. Ombajin.
The members of the GAD Focal Point System, led by Mayor Freddie D. Domingo and Vice Mayor John Paul M. Balmores, participated in the table validation. In his message, VM Balmores thanked the validation team for assisting the LGU regarding what needs to be improved and what needs to be done. Also, he reassured that the LGU would continue to strengthen and mainstream gender-responsive PPAs in the locality and support the mandates regarding GAD.
The PCW GAD-LLH aims to institutionalize the sharing and replication of local experiences and showcase GAD-related innovations to enable the LGUs to initiate and strengthen their gender mainstreaming.
